Gum Disease
Remember: the message never changes- prevention is always better than cure!
Gum disease describes swelling, soreness or infection of the tissues supporting the teeth. There are two main forms of gum disease: gingivitis and periodontal disease.
Gingivitis is characterized by inflammation of the gums. The gums around the teeth become very red and swollen. Often the gums bleed during brushing. Leaving gingivitis over a long period of time can eventually lead to periodontal disease.
